BLACK HISTORY MONTH SPOTLIGHT
Let us introduce you to the fabulous Ms. Diane Rice Toney! Diane is a vibrant 61 year old grand mother of 3 and mother of 4. She watched as her family members died, some of preventable disease, and she decided to end the trend of obesity by joining Fit, Fyne & Fabulous! Please watch and read why she decided to ReWrite her Family’s Health History!
How did you feel about your body and your fitness journey before Joining Fit, Fyne & Fabulous?
I felt unattractive, no longer sexy and had low self esteem. There were many Sundays that I viewed church services online because finding something to wear was such a struggle. I avoided attending most of the community functions because I was ashamed and embarrassed that I had let myself gain so much weight over the past five years. I wore over-sized & loose fitting clothing to cover up my midriff and belly fat.
Seeing the accomplishments and reading the stories of other ladies made me want more for myself.
How many pounds and inches did you lose with FFF, and how do you feel about your body and your fitness journey now?
I actually weighed 216 lbs. prior to starting my journey with FFF. I weighed 210 lbs. when I joined the first challenge in October I now weigh 190 lbs. which is a total of 26 lbs. I’ve lost a total of 24 inches. I still have around 40 lbs or so to go, but thankful that I’ve finally achieved the mind set, and I’m working to get my diva-ism back. Lost my sexy and diva-ism somewhere along the way, and I’m gonna find it. My husband is very supportive and excited for me, as well.
What is your favorite NSV or Non Scale Victory?
My favorite NSV was when a member of my church asked me if I had lost weight. My response of course was “YES”. She said that I looked amazing, like really a different person. It made my day. Confirmation that I must be doing something right. My skin even glows since I’ve been eating healthier. I still have a long way to go, but I’m finally on the right track. I’m so thankful for that.
What is your favorite clean eating recipe you’ve learned while being a part of FFF?
My favorite clean eating recipe thus far is the “Chicken Cauliflower Fried Rice“. It is truly the BOMB. Love it, love it, love it!!!
Is there anything you would like to share with women who are on the fence about starting their journey? Anything you would like to leave them with, a quote or any final words of motivation?
Seeing the before and after pics of other ladies that have made the decision to finally commit to a healthy lifestyle made me crave it more for myself. Reading their stories and accomplishments was very motivating and made me even more driven. The struggle is real, but being a part of this awesome group of divas is life changing. I’ve done other programs, and met with a counselor or a group weekly, but it hadn’t impacted me much before. Here’s a quick story that I’d like to share with you ladies. One of my dearest friends that I’ve known for approx. 40 years is a coach with FFF. I’ve observed her weight loss journey over the past year with this internet motivational group. She started looking so amazing and sporting around in her skinny jeans. I decided that I needed to at least give it a try. Doing it on my own hadn’t worked to well for me. I just couldn’t see how belonging to this on-line group could help me achieve success, but it really has made a difference in my life.
What is your favorite fitness tip you’ve learned while being a part of FFF?
Meal prep, meal prep, meal prep. I actually thought that since I am retired, I didn’t need to meal prep, not true.
A motivational quote received from of the ladies that resonated within my spirit: “Losing weight is hard, maintaining weight is hard. Being overweight is hard. Choose your hard.”
I have this posted on my refrigerator and on the mirror in my bathroom.
The diva coaches of Fit, Fyne & Fabulous are OH SO PROUD of Diane for taking the steps to change her family’s eating habits and her own life expectancy!
