[bctt tweet=”Adversity is Necessary to identify your dreams!  – Steve Harvey, JUMP” username=”FitFyneFabulous”]

A note from STEVE HARVEY….

There’s no doubt you have several goals you want to accomplish and I know they are all important. But the truth is, too many goals can put you in overwhelm as you try to split your time, energy and resources.

The key is to prioritize and focus on your most important goal first.

KEY ACTION STEP DAY 2:

Choose one goal that you will focus on during the challenge that would have the biggest impact in your life. Write it down and review it everyday.

sig-day-2

A RECAP OF pages 3-10 as told by Coach Mea
(click here to learn more about Mea):

In the beginning of the book Steve shares, that adversity is necessary to identify your dreams.

Life is nothing but a four-letter word. One day you can have everything only for it to be taken away from you.

Steve had a tough road at Kent State and dropped out, BUT he didn’t allow it to define the rest of his life!!!!

Steve believed, failing is not the time to lick your wounds, lose hope in your dreams or constantly look back in the rear view mirror.

Instead, you should re-frame your positives and that will ultimately change your story. Dreams are everything!

Steve mentioned that together with his dreams and gifts, he JUMPED!!

Personal testimony from Coach Mea:

I’ve waddled in pity, looking into my rear view mirror many of times during my life, which often brought major setbacks.

  • I’ve purchased gym memberships with hopes of going;
  • I’ve purchased trainers with hopes of participating;
  • I’ve had this bright idea where I’ve spent thousands of dollars trying to create only to fall.

Reading this book and re-framing my situation validated that in 2017, I don’t need to stay in the dark. That darkness without the glimmer of light will pave a negative picture in my life, and I want to JUMP with a leap of faith and pursue my dreams.

How about you?  Can you see the glimmer thru the darkness?  Are you preparing to JUMP, yet?

-xoxo

  • Mea Floyd says:

I just placed tape on my rear view mirror! After reading these pages and having a birthday chat with a close Soror, I realized that I was still looking backwards. Today I will pray and meditate on expanding my businesses as well as initiating market research for another business.

    I am JUMPING!!

  • Tomika Carrington says:

I too have spent so money and energy on dreaming only to not succeed in my many battles. My first goal I want to focus on is my weight loss journey. I feel as though this will push every other desire of my heart into full swing. So yes I am ready to be aware and true to myself about following through with my dreams. So yes I am ready to jump.

    • Liz Prince says:

Excellent Diva! This book has us really thinking and striving to be all that we can be! I pray you will receive what you have been praying for.

  • michele dean says:

I have always been one of those people who always have these excellent ideas and never seen any of them through . Well that is going to change my number 1 priority is my weight loss because I know once I start losing weight and feeling good about myself my self esteem and confidence is all the way up !! My second goal is to continue with getting my business to where it needs to be.

    • Liz Prince says:

Alright Michele! Great priorities, taking care of yourself and moving into your God ordained destiny! Go get it DIVA!

  • Cynthia Griffin says:

His college story is so familiar to my experience. While I didn’t flunk out I did get pregnant and had to go to community college. I recall how disappointed I was with myself and the thought of my life being over. The horror of thinking my Dad was going to kill me and how I let him down. Well I certainly believe this detour on my journey has molded me to be the person I am today. I’ll never forget over hearing my aunt telling someone how she knew Ms. Goodie Two Shoes would end up like everyone else. My Dad’s response to my situation was the complete opposite of what I played out in my head. He said children were a blessing and that I could still meet my goals but it may just take me a while longer. He went on to tell me how strong of a person he knows me to be. Well that and the birth of my beautiful first born was the motivation and determination needed to push through. There have certainly been many detours including the lost of my mother, son, and grandmother in a car accident one Thanksgiving weekend. God saw us through this as well. It did take me a little longer than most having to work full time and take night classes but I eventually obtained my MBA. The most touching moment was to hear my son say how incredibly proud of me he was and how he has always admired my drive. This is the kid that has witnessed many of my failures. So YES! I CAN and I WILL be successful with my fitness and health journey. This challenge, I will focus on getting a gallon of water in each day. This is big for me. I typically get about 64 oz. Overall for the year I’m putting me first with my spiritual and health being a priority. All other things should fall right in line.

    • Wanda says:

Wow!! A true testimony of perservance & determination!! God will take you through as long as you believe & trust He can. What a blessing to have a earthly father that supported you through. Thanks so much for sharing❤️❤️

  • Deb says:

True statement – “Your life is a precious gift that is available for a limited time only.” I tend to procrastinate and think that I can start tomorrow. In reality this life is precious and short. I was touched by the quote above, because the realization of the brevity of life makes me pause and reconsider how much time has been wasted. I have lived some good days, but the deterrent has always been struggle. My family struggled financially during my childhood and so I’ve done everything in my power to avoid struggle. Yet, Steve says “the struggle comes along with the abundance.” I have not lived in abundance yet, so I really need to prepare my mind for the struggle.

This offer is only available for a limited time, so my heart is to see abundance. I also pray that my life’s legacy will be remembered by my children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. If that is to happen, my dreams must be combined with my faith, so that action takes place. Every good and perfect gift comes from above, so let me use these gifts, including the gift of life, to bring fullness to my life and glory to the Most High! I pray to have the courage to walk through the doors and jump when required.

    • Coach Twy says:

Yes Yes Yes, my husbands good friend who is only 43 died in his sleep. His young family woke up on New Years morning to him “asleep” in his bed. His kids tried to wake him up (5 years old).

I share this to say, you’re so right, we just assume we will wake up the next day and we eat better, and drink better and be better tomorrow. But tomorrow is not promised is not just cliche, it is the truth!!!

      JUMP TODAY!

  • Coach Twy says:

Steve’s mindset is what makes him successful. Successful people just see failures differently. I personally share all the time…. FAILURE in on the road to SUCCESS it’s not the opposite of it! This is such a great book so far!

There is always a glimmer of light we can hold to even in our darkest times, if we re-frame it just right.

Life is peaks, valleys, reframing, peaks, valleys, reframing (rinse and repeat)! This books helps to illuminate that life cycle!

  • Jada pettaway says:

I have always to give others advice on what they needed to do but tlnever focused on my self. Well that will be changing. My first priority is getting closer to God as I lose weight on my new journey of weight loss and not to look backwards as I think forward and progress forward. So now I am ready to jump to care of jada first.

    • Coach Twy says:

AMEN!!!!! As when we are made to be that RIB, that giver!! IT’s okay to be selfish, and I’m so proud of us for doing that now! I’m with you sis.

    • Brittany Daniel says:

I agree. Steve has a successful mindset. From this day forward, I will CHOOSE to have this same MINDSET.

  • Delores says:

I’m going to focus on my weight loss and healthy eating habits. I will no longer look in that rearview mirror of my pass failures. I know everyday won’t be easy but as Steve states, struggles and abundance connect, so while I may struggle on some days I know that as long as I stay true to myself and my plan I will prevail.

  • Tavisha says:

My biggest problem is negativity which leads to my procrastination. Always putting a can’t where I should be pitting a can. Always making excuses for my can’t. I’ve always had big dreams but unable to see them through. I’m so tired of the same-o, same-o mentality. I want a change, no I need a change. It consumes my every thought, my every open space. It’s so time for me to take that small jump which will lead into that big jump. I’m going to start with the way I think about weight loss. Began to conquer those thought, instead of allowing defeat to creep in. And with every conquered thought will come action. Exercise, Healthy eating habits and better choices of my relationships etc. My struggles are real but so are every one else’s. We are here to JUMP. So ladies, lets JUMP!!!!!

  • Christal says:

My goal with this challenge is to consistently work out. I want to keep the promises I make to myself. As I think back on the reason I gained the weight and the reasons why I chose not to do anything about it. I know now that I’m worth it. I’m determined to break the family cycle of diabetes, hypertension etc that are evident in my family. It’s time for me to jump and not look back.

  • Christal says:

  • Amy says:

I have been guilty of putting everyone’s feelings & happiness above my own, being there for everyone else. This year I chose to put myself first, starting with a healthy life style & sticking with it. I’m ready to take that “JUMP” to make my health & happiness a priority.

  • Beverly C says:

I have always been one to “jump” and try whatever I wanted to do. I didn’t want to be one of those people when I get to a certain age and say “I wish I had done this or that”. I pursued my nursing degree while working full time, married with two kids and once I graduated leaving my job after 21 years and none of it was easy. I guess that why I’m so frustrated with myself with the weight gain and bouncing back and forth and not maintaining the weight loss. My goal is to stay focus on weight loss/maintenance and healthy eating and using the gifts God has blessed me with.

  • Tamika Lewis says:

My one goal will be consistency! I want to be consistent in my work outs and consistent in my food choices. Even if I falter here or there, I want to just continue to consistently do better! My biggest problem has always been quitting just because I make a bad food choice or when I don’t exercise for a couple of days. I told myself I will stop saying I want to lose weight and say I want to get healthy! If I lose weight while getting healthy, then that’s just a bonus!

    • Nornette Jacobs says:

Love, love that last piece! “…I want to get healthy! If I lose weight while getting healthy, then that’s just a bonus!” Well stated diva!❤️

  • Nornette Jacobs says:

Thank you Mea for sharing your story, your journey. Matthew 6:33 is the scripture I try very hard to live by, as well. I love this scripture because God has promised us that if we, His children, put Him first, everything else will fall right into place. That’s Good Word right there! So very happy for all you’ve accomplished thus far and I’m very ecstatic for all of the success you will continue to achieve.

My #1 goal is to make a very conscious effort to flourish, daily, in everything (absolutely, everything) I do. I want to make sure that something good is produced from my actions, whether it be in my home, at work, in my church, out in my community, etc. Christ instructs us to bear good fruit (be highly productive) and according to James 5:7-11 We must aim high to reach the highest goals. To produce the best fruit requires work, time and perseverance. Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men.

My goal is to be purposeful, intentional in everything I attempt as if I’m doing it unto the Lord. ❤️🙌🏽

  • Priscilla Toussant says:

This is Good Stuff!!! I will focus on my Prayer life and healthy eating habits. Both will allow me to receive what God has for me! Listening for God, waiting to Jump!

  • Keisha Fontenot-Crawford says:

I know you said to only go to page 10 but I couldn’t put the book down! I guess I really never realized the things that were holding me back for so long! I failed at something 13 years ago and was never able to let it go for years. I was blocking my blessings by staying in the past! I love when he says “you can’t drive your car forward looking in the rear view mirror”! It’s time to press forward, take that JUMP to greater things for myself.

My first GOAL for this challenge is to stay COMMITTED!!! I have trouble doing this & give up to easily.

  • Lakeisha Walker says:

The one goal that I will chose to focus on is my health. I want to be physically healthy, spiritually healthy, and mentally healthy. Steve does a great job of breaking things down through analogies so we can see the bigger picture. I’m looking forward to jumping in!

  • Lynette says:

My goal is committed focus!!! I am actively involved in many things both professionally and personally. However I could be better if I was more focused with my commitments. I am learning to jump by not letting the fear of failure keep me unfocused and noncommittal. I can do this.

I am really enjoying the book thus far and I wanted to keep reading but for once I am going to follow a program that’s not mine and stay on task!!! I will focus on my end result but I know it will take me one day at a time to achieve it!!!

  • Angela McCall-Brown says:

My goal is to be consistent with my water consumption and working out. These two things go hand and hand because I am not a fan of either.
I am coming to the understanding that together they will help release my full potential to reach my weight loss goals!
So I am about to Jump!
As Steve has said, it’s time for me to learn from my weight loss failed attempts, and to be an overcomer!

  • Tira McDonald says:

Reading Mr. Harvey’s book reinforces what I know and don’t always put into practice in my life. I refer to myself as the pragmatic idealist. But, when I’ve failed something after 4-5 attempts, I have often given up because I don’t see my efforts bearing fruit. After reading these pages, I realize one should never give up on a dream that is your heart’s desire, My sixth attempt may have taken me across the goal line if I had continued to push.

The goal I plan to focus on is weight loss. I truly believe accomplishing this long-held goal will motivate me and provide a much needed boost of confidence to tackle other goals.

  • Trinity Hollins says:

My goal is to carve out time for myself. With that time, I can talk to God, exercise and focus on my business. But I must think of me and not always of others and allow myself to become depleated. This is the year to jump and stop being in my own way!

  • Sharon King says:

My main goal is to learn how to say NO to others and yes to myself. I have to focus on getting myself back on track with my mind body and spirit. I am so lost at times with people (family) pulling me in so many directions. My weight loss and healthy eating will be priority, but most of all giving all the honor to my GOD for keeping me.

  • Bethany Golden says:

After reading the first 7 pages left to let go of things I can not change…I spent years holding on to hurt of failure in my eyes, not being where I feel I needed to be at this point in my life, struggling to loose weight (I have never been a big girl and has always played sports and very active) and nothing seemed to work for me..It’s 2017 and I have made the decision to depend more on God and not man…Make him a priority in my life..Know that am unique in the way he made me. God knows my hurt and he will fill the desire when he see fit and I’m ready for the challenge…I can truly say I’m off to a good start..My God is in control!!

  • Nicole S McCoy says:

My goal is to meal prep weekly, staying focused on what I prepare.

  • Katrina Atkinson says:

My goal is prioritizing! Whoa, I just typed that and didn’t even believe myself. Let me try that again with that 2 Timothy 1:7 spirit of POWER God said that He’s given me… My GOAL is to PRIORITIZE! For I KNOW that I can do ALL things through Christ who strengths me. Yea, that’s better, I felt it that time. Perception is so key. It can make the difference in living a life of fulfillment or a life of mediocrity. The awesome thing is we have the POWER, through Christ, to make that call.
